Hi,
May I first add some thoughts to the implementation and cost topic.
It was already acknowledged that SAP Multiresource Scheduling has functionality, flexibility and future extensibility that provide great value on the product side.
When determining how expensive a software actually is, we might want to recap the various aspects contributing to the overall calculation.
License purchase price, implementation cost, support, maintenance, cost for additional customization to your business, cost for creating and maintaining extra interfaces to other applications, cost to keep up with upgrades and several others. Ultimately you look at TCO and ROI.
A Standard product with rapid deployment:
After having picked MRS from the SAP standard product price list, you look at the cost to implement MRS. With MRS you can select the scenario(s), the integration level and other parameters for your blueprint.
Customers have talked at conferences about their six week implementation in a typical plant maintenance scenario. Others might use more time because they leverage additional possibilities with PPM, PS or even CRM and realize value in other departments of the business too. In any case it is advisable to consider the SAP Rapid Deployment Solution (RDS) for SAP MRS: guaranteed go live with known costs and given duration – a standard service from SAP for customers and integrators to accelerate implementation for quick ROI.
And there is more coming in regards to RDS.
Integration, support and road map:
MRS is a non-modifying Add-On to SAP (ECC or CRM e.g.) it offers outstanding integration capabilities as standard, options to configure and extend to your business; all with your SAP knowledge, all SAP Standard compliant, nothing hidden, all for you to understand without being dependent on a non-SAP third party service contract. As soon you’re a done, you can count on
SAP Standard support. SAP Standard messaging procedures apply to SAP MRS customers. You apply the SAP notes with your SAP know how. SAP Standard maintenance contract policy and terms are also valid.
Let’s talk upgrades. MRS is aligned with SAP product releases and with an own road map for future releases. Customers can even collaborate with SAP, provide feedback and suggest future enhancements.
This leads to another topic: innovation and technology. Ready for SAP HANA or mobilize your workforce? With MRS in your landscape you can run your business on HANA and rely on seamless integration features now and in the future with SAP mobile apps like SAP Work Manager (formerly by Syclo).
At the end you look at TCO and may conclude that it is questionable to put MRS in the category “costly”.
Best regards,
Joerg
