Did you ensure, refresh before components load is checked in in query browser while creating connection to BEx.
Also, Did you bind the data to excel spreadsheet from query browser and then from Excel to components. Test if the excel is showing data by taking snapshot of excel from preview mode(File menu options).IF excel snapshot fetches data the issue is with incorrect component biding with excel.
