I know that would be really great if we can find some way to trigger custom actions/events on standard screen 
. Even I always wonder if there is some way which works.
Regarding your ides probably Yes if you have the EC embedded in TI on the overview page. If it is in a Tab( Navigation Item) I am doubt full if the OnLoad event would be triggered unless u click on the Tab to see the data. You can give a try in a test environment. Probably I would also try something similar this weekend and let you know my observations.
